Civil / Structural Engineers and Designers may be involved in specifying piling and foundation work, drainage, reinforced concrete, retaining walls and dynamics for seismic loadings. The work of a civil structural engineer may involve a mix of structural steel and concrete. For instance in order to build a new chemical plant the civil engineer may be involved in interpreting Geotechnical reports, land remediation, drainage, surface water, effluent systems and water retaining structures, specifying depth of reinforced foundations and piling caps, concrete and steel structural analysis and design. This work may be Greenfield but is quite often on a Brownfield site, redeveloping or modifying an existing site, with all the complications that existing underground services and contamination may cause. Multidiscipline and experienced engineers are always in demand that have the knowledge to deal with unexpected problems throughout the project. Our clients are often working on a project on behalf of main clients, so good communication skills are highly valued when selecting candidates for these roles.

Experienced Geotechnical and Tunnel Engineers are always in demand by our clients. Giraffe recruit Geotechnical Engineers from across Europe to work for our clients. The work of a geotechnical engineer will typically involve investigating and analyzing reports of the site conditions in particular the soil and bedrock in order to fully understand the implications for construction and development on a site. We recruit all grades of Geotechnical Engineers from Graduates to Principals for vacancies across the UK. Working on a variety of projects such as design and build schemes and often for prestigious clients such as the Highways Agency, Network Rail, The Environment Agency, Metronet and the London Olympics. These positions may be long term contract or permanent attracting good rates and salaries, and we would particularly like to hear from skilled geotechnical engineers with experience of desk studies. We also welcome applications from Tunnel engineers with experience of tunneling and related infrastructure, as we have exciting opportunities with prestigious clients who have underground projects in the UK and abroad.
